Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted (plus more for prepping pan)

  • 1 1/2 cups flour

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

  • 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • vanilla bean whipped cream:

  • 1 cup cold whipping cream

  • 2 tbsp confectioners’ sugar

  • 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste

  • sliced strawberries

  • optional toppings: chocolate sauce, nuts, bananas

Directions

Fifteen minutes before making whipped cream, place glass bowl and mixer beaters in refrigerator. Add confectioners’ sugar and vanilla bean paste to whipping cream and whip until stiff peaks form. Set aside. In a large bowl, mix all waffle ingredients together. Preheat two halves of Belgian waffler on medium heat for 2 minutes. Brush both halves lightly with melted butter. Scoop a little over one cup of batter into one half of waffler. Close and cook for about 2 minutes. Flip waffler to the other side and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Carefully remove with a spatula or flip out onto a plate. Repeat steps and prep pan in between with butter if needed. Top with fresh whipped cream, strawberries, and other toppings of choice. Makes about 3 full sized waffles.
